We first met Hanna at the rodeo where we were loaning horses for a queen contestant. Hanna go her first ride on a horse that night. For her birthday she got to ride in the Loxley Christmas Parade.

Mr Fred gets to ride his horse. This is BlackRiver ArmedWithIvory, a two year old grandson of both Gen's Armed And Dangerous and Royal Ivory.

Morning of the second day

I didn't get many photos of the second day as I had my hands full of horse. This was before break-away, out in the corrals the handlers came to catch their horses just as the mist started to lift.

Perfection's Red Dawn

Dawn is registered with the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Association. Her colt is a part bred in need of a name. Thes two red lovelys are headed to Mississippi.
This is Dawn's dam, Melody's Blue Velvet.

And her sire Perfection's Black Magic B.

Mississippi visit

Fred and I want to thank Jaimie, of The New Covenant Ranch, for the invitation to their 4th of July Independence Day celebration. We took Pie, Haggatha, and Taffy to the party.

We spent the day (or at least 7 hours of it) giving pony rides on Taffy. Taffy was such a trooper. All three horses did their job as ambassadors for their species, not just their breed.

Most of our new friends had never been on a horse before.

Everyone who wanted to, had the chance to ride a horse.

Everyone had a good day, though many didn't get to ride as much as we all would have liked.

Many of the children took a second ride and quite a few I think would have taken third and fourths if we had had the time.

It was a great opportunity to ride a horse and get used to how they move, while concentrating on staying on, without having to try to control the horse too.

It was as rewarding for us as it was fun and exciting for them.

Friends enjoy their ride around the Blackwater cotton fields. When the woods are too full of bugs the fields are a great place to ride.

My ad for stable help

I ran an ad on the local craigslist. I used the following 4 photos.

Saddle time on my horses in trade for grooming time - $10 (Loxley) and general horse help. Experianced rider or lessons. Or will give lessons for $10 per for introductory lesson, a minimun of one half hour to a maximum of one full hour. Lessons are $20 for a minimum of one hour and a maximum of two hours. Must have own transportation.

This ad got a lot of response. It looked nice and time will tell how well it works out. The photos were take from my house to the barn at Blackwater and back. It is about a 20 minute ride thru the woods.
